Imagine a life coach, but instead of just giving you a pep talk and a workout plan, they hand you a map of the human heart, a compass pointing towards God’s love in many possibilities for you, and a backpack full of scriptures, encouragement, and maybe even a few brownies (because who doesn’t cherish a good brownie while navigating life’s challenges?). That’s the essence of a Christian life coach!
The Heart of the Matter:
A Christian life coach (CLC) isn’t just a cheerleader for Jesus (though, let’s be honest, we all need a good Encourager sometimes!). CLC’s are a guide, a confidant, a fellow traveler on the journey of faith. They’re there to help you understand the map of your own soul, to navigate the sometimes-tricky terrain of life with God’s word as your compass.
Think of the apostle Paul, fervently encouraging and guiding the early church, reminding them of God’s promises and heart for them (Romans 15:4). Many never thought of Paul as a Coach, but in many scenarios, he coached the saints of God into pure realities of the kingdom life, helping them discern the perfect will of God for their life through Coaching Questions and objective analysis. We see this on many occasions such as in Romans 6, Galatians 2;16, 3:2-5 and many more, where he confronted both Jews and gentiles, with boggling questions about their faith, in order to help them align with God’s Kingdom Plan For their lives. We also see the wise King Solomon, who said, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Beneficiaries of Christian Life Coaching
Take the story of Queen Esther, a young woman who courageously stepped up to save her people, trusting in God’s plan even when it seemed impossible (Esther 4-8). This story couldn’t have been complete without the role of Mordecai ( Queen Esther’s uncle and foster parent). Mordecai sent Queen Esther, what I’ll call a Coaching Letter Esther 4:1-16, helping her see the importance of her role in the saving of the Jews, and asking cogent questions in helping her consider God’s timing in her rise to being a Persian Queenđź‘‘. This helped her put things in the right perspective, as she was able To rightly navigate the waters of palace intrigue and political complexities boldly in saving her people from the sinister plan of their sworn enemy, who was a chief official of the state and a close ally of her King.
Interestingly, Modecai didn’t have to tell her what To do, rather He simply stirred her to examine the facts for what they where according to Gods plan. This is who a Chrisitian life Coach is! No. We are not mentors, or counsellors, rather we are friendly spiritual guides, positioned and equipped to stir your thoughts in rightly considering the facts about your life, in order to take the most effective action for the unveiling of God’s plan for your life. We trust the Holy Spirit’s work in you, We trust that God is at Work in you and for you. We trust the Love God has for you and these are the base point from which we progress.

Strategies:
Yes, there are real-life challenges, requiring real life solutions, but laughter and grace are essential ingredients in the Christian life coach’s toolkit. Just like the apostle Paul, who faced hardship but also wrote with gladness and warmth more than once saying “Rejoice in Lord” (Philippians 4:4 & 1Thess.5:16); CLC’s are friendly faith based professionals, wearing multiple hats. When you need a good laugh to lighten your heart, we never fall short, when you need an organiser for your mumbled thought, we have just the right tool to help you with that. When you need someone to talk to, we are right on call, but better still we’ll help you chart the map to change that situation for the best. Christian Life Coaches are not redundant listeners, but active listening partners, who will help convert your dilemma into an action blueprint of opportunities, guiding you to a transformed life.
The Big Picture:
A Christian life coach helps you see the bigger picture, the divine plan woven through the tapestry of your life. They help you understand that even in the midst of struggle, God’s love and Grace are always present (Romans 8:28). They remind you that you are not alone on this journey, that you have a loving Father who walks beside you, cheering you on and providing everything you need (Matthew 6:33).
So, if you’re looking for a guide, a friend, a confidant, someone to help you navigate the ups and downs of life with a smile and a sprinkle of faith, maybe a Christian life coach is just what you need. Remember, even with a good coach, the journey is yours, but the destination is always a beautiful reunion with God.
